How to: Organize your makeup drawers

Tuesday, November 13, 2012

It's embarrassing to say but yes, this was my makeup drawer and under my sink!!!  Insane!!! I didn't know what I had and what I didn't and kept buying repeats of my fave products! It was time to give it some love!  Here is the before and after of my overhaul!!!!

I used my old Birchbox boxes and a simple dollar store organizers to handle my statement necklaces and nailpolishes.  I threw out anything I wasn't using or wasn't planning on using and made room for my essentials and fun items.

I boxed my products in categories:
Skin Care
Lip color ( glosses, lipsticks and liners)
Eye products ( eyeliners, mascara, eye shadows, brow products)
Travel (travel size products like toothbrush, shampoo/conditioner and skin care samples)

Below my sink:
Nail ( polishes, removers and pedi products- categorized and contained by season i.e.. darks and brights)
Costume jewelry
Hair products ( partially used or extra items that I don't use much)
Earings ( I lose earrings easily so having them in a makeup pouch all together helps me keep mates together)
Skin care ( masks and extra items that I use sporadically)

With simply overhauling and organizing my products I was able to see what I have and use it wisely!  I can maximize my fab lip colors and freshen up my look!  Such a fun way to get out a rut!

Lee and Greg- Maxwell House, Pasadena

Monday, November 12, 2012

Lee was just the most relaxed and lovliest of brides! She knew what she liked but was really flexible to what I tried! We landed on soft makeup and upswept hair!  So romantic! I can't deal with her amazing deconstructed gown!  So gorgeous!  Check out more of the pretty here!

My Grazing Patterns

Monday, November 5, 2012

It's funny...but I often get asked what I eat in a day.  So here it is...my grazing pattern!

Of course all days are different but this happens to be what I ate today!

7:30 Breakfast-Veggie Scramble with coffee
11:00 Snack- small ramican of grapes and string cheese and large water bottle
1:30 mini lunch/snack- Turkey, lettuce roll up and large water bottle
3:00  5 pretzels and 3 strawberries
5:00 Glass of wine while dinner preps
6:00 Chicken Spezzatino
8:00 large marshmellow dipped in Nutella

There you have it!  I keep my meals really mini and portions really under control for the most part.  I prep everyting in ramicans so it looks cute and colorful and the portions are become a no-brainer.  I'm super visual and like a good color filled meal and snack.  I don't really focus on keeping anything out of my diet but do try and keep every balanced.  If a have a more fruit based breakfast I keep my snacks more veggie packed.  I keep up the water intake and really don't feel deprived!

Bangs

Wednesday, October 31, 2012

There is nothing more chic and effortless than brow grazing bangs!  I remember feeling OMG!!! when Reese Witherspoon debuted her fabulous new self after her split with Ryan Phillippe. The bangs were EVERYTHING! Taylor Swift is using them in full force with her new grown up, red lipped look and Jessica Biel is all sorts of chic with her new bangs during her engagement/nuptials to Justin Timberlake.    Bangs definitely take some commitment to help them look fabulous but they are statement making and super sexy!

Tricia and Sam- Ojai Valley

Friday, October 26, 2012

There are just some weddings and just some brides that will stick with you and this one was one of them!  Tricia is all things incredible!  I immediately gravitated to her the first time we met for her engagement shoot and trial run at her AMAZING Malibu home that she and Sam had custom designed! It's magazine worthy! She is just so cool and confident.  She has the very clear vision of not being to girly and looking really as natural as possible. She has the best freckles and the most lovely face so to highlight her natural beauty was going to be pretty easy.  She LOVES Gwen Stefani and when describing her hair inspiration it was made so clear!  She is a die hard fan and I can see why! Tricia is the every day Gwen Stefani!  She is cool and confident with a little bit of a hard edge.  She is all softy on the inside and was so emotional and full of love on the wedding day!  She never stopped surprising me with her girly elements she would add into her look.  I just had the best time getting to know her and getting to be a part of her special day!  The party was one for the books and was recently featured on Style me Pretty!

Speedy lunches

Thursday, October 25, 2012

By lunch time, I've usually attempted a good portion of my to do list  and am ready for a little yummy!  I still most likely have a mountain of things to still tackle so I need something quick that will keep the energy up! I like to use stuff I already have on hand to keep it simple.  Pair any one of these with a huge Coconut water, cup of tea or big water bottle and you are set!!

Turkey and Lettuce rollups
2 large leaves of lettuce (Bibb works great), fave lunch meat, drizzled with Newman's Own Balsamic Vinaigrette

Cottage cheese, cucumber, tomatoes and avocado sprinkled with pepper

Veggies, hummus and pita chips or pretzels

Greek Yogurt with berries and granola

Caprese salad
Cherry tomatos, fresh mozzarella, fresh basil, drizzle of balsamic vinegar and extra virgin olive oil with dash of salt and pepper.

I'm also a big fan of leftovers...we usually have a perfect little portion left for a great lunch!
